Want to stay stunning? Then make sure your beauty routine takes care of the inside as well as the outside for glowing good health.
As an ‘ageing beauty’ I know what it’s like to have had incredible skin once upon a time. Of course at the time I didn’t know I had incredible skin. But now I do. That’s because my skin is telling me that things have changed - time has wrought some devastating effects on my visage and none of them are good. Fine lines, dryness and eye bags are my constant companions and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about them, trying to soften them, cover them up or blast them away. Now I have a new weapon - Top Up Women’s Superfood.
Yep, Top Up Women’s Superfood is the latest and greatest addition to my skin care routine. And no, I’m not slathering it on my face, I’m drinking it. LOTS of it. The reason? Research shows that getting keeping and good skin is as much about what you put into your body as on it.
Just take a look at what’s inside:
Just 2 tsp of Top Up Women’s Superfood provides a third of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. Owing to its antioxidant activity, vitamin C helps to protect the skin against sun damage, particularly when combined with vitamin E. Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, which is a protein which gives our skin its structure and elasticity.
After the age of 25, collagen levels in skin start to decline, which results in the appearance of fine lines and sagging skin. Other good sources include citrus fruit, red capsicum, and broccoli.
Vitamin E is a key component of the skin’s antioxidant defense system, protecting against UV and free radical damage. Along with including vitamin E-rich foods such as avocado and walnuts each day, just one serve of Top Up Women's Superfood contributes 40% towards my daily quota for vitamin E.
Beta-carotene (and other carotenoids) are converted in the body to vitamin A, which is important for imparting a healthy glow to the skin. Beta-carotene is found in orange-coloured fruits and vegetables - think mango, apricots, sweet potato and carrots. Just one 8g dose of Top Up Women’s Superfood provides one quarter of the RDI for vitamin A.
In addition to these antioxidant vitamins, Top Up Women’s Superfood also packs an antioxidant punch from superstar ingredients such as pomegranate, cacao and green tea, all of which are rich in polyphenolic antioxidants.
On top of Top Up Women’s Superfood, I’m also checking these off my list daily;
- Using sunscreen every day
- Eating a healthy diet: getting enough fruit and vegetables, include lean proteins with main meals, snacking on a handful of nuts and seeds daily, and enjoying omega-3-rich oily fish a few times per week
- Staying hydrated - drinking enough water or herbal tea
- Minimising alcohol to avoid waking up feeling dehydrated
- No smoking (of course!)
- Getting enough sleep (Trying!)
- Minimising exposure to pollution (easier said than done!)
- Smiling - it's easy, fun and beautiful
So there you have it - a simple recipe for staying gorgeous!
